Ross L. Tamblingson
May 2, 1946 ~ October 24, 2023 (age 77)


Ross L. Tamblingson, 77, of Wilmington, Delaware passed away unexpectedly in the comfort of his home on Tuesday, October 24, 2023. Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on May 2, 1946, he was the son of the late Floyd and Kathleen (White) Tamblingson.

Ross was a graduate of Kennett High School, class of 1964, and furthered his education at Farmingdale State College (NY), where he achieved All American in soccer, and Louisiana Technical College having earned his Bachelor’s Degree. Ross married his beloved wife, the former Janice A. Nulty, on June 28, 1969 and they shared 39 years of happiness until her passing on June 1, 2008.

A knowledgeable horticulturist, Ross was employed with Organic Compost in Oxford, Pennsylvania for 25 years. In his retirement, he worked at Archmere Academy and Longwood Gardens. An avid Philadelphia sports fan, Ross was also a golf enthusiast and recently enjoyed bowling.

In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by his brother, Scott Tamblingson.

Ross is survived by his children, Patti Strecker and husband, Jason, Stephanie Rochester, and David Tamblingson and wife, Lydia Segui; his grandchildren, Ashley Rochester and fiancé, Brandon Hamm, Justin Rochester, Hayley, Seth and Casey Strecker, and Alex Ozonoff; his great granddaughter, Allie.

In addition, Ross is survived by his former son-in-law, Michael Rochester; his close friend, Ann Carpentieri and her family.

Family and friends are invited to visit at the Doherty Funeral Home, 3200 Limestone Road, Pike Creek on Friday, November 3 from 9:00 – 10:30AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. John the Beloved Church, 907 Milltown Road at 11:00AM. Entombment in All Saints Cemetery will be held privately at a later date.
